X-CORE Platform Council

The X-CORE Platform Council is an ad-hoc subcommittee initiated by the Steering Committee and follows the defined rules of engagement. It reports directly to the Steering Committee to ensure alignment. The initial six members are nominated by the Steering Committee, while additional members will be voted. The X-CORE Platform Council supports complex integration projects, such as Eclipse S-CORE, by managing non-technical tasks. The council provides strategic guidance and decision-making, with operational teams managing communications, branding, and finance.

Why it matters

The X-CORE Platform Council ensures that Eclipse SDV’s integration projects, starting with Eclipse S-CORE, are strategically aligned , market-ready, and trusted by the automotive industry. By addressing branding, communication, release planning, and ecosystem adoption, the council turns open source innovation into industry standards.

Responsibilities

The Platform Council drives strategic initiatives that go beyond code
development, including:

Industry engagement

Aligning outreach with senior executives across the automotive ecosystem.

Strategic planning

Gathering top-level requirements and establishing release roadmaps.

Release management

Defining release names, dates, and readiness milestones.

Branding & marketing

Working with the SDV Marketing & Brand Committee on brand and communication.

Policies & procedures

Defining rules for participation, product development, distribution, and supporting assets.

Risk & quality management

Establishing practices to ensure the reliability and sustainability of processes and deliverables.

Community & events​

Planning developer gatherings, enabling communication channels, and creating user support systems.

Roles

Each community has a lead responsible for coordination and alignment with the Council

Platform council chair

Leads internal meetings, facilitates collaboration, and acts as spokesperson.

Platform council members

Actively participate in Council discussions, operational teams, and decision-making

Operational communities

The Council organises its work into specialised groups, including certification, branding & marketing, external communication.

Meetings

  • The Platform Council meets at least monthly.
  • Agendas and minutes follow the standard Eclipse Working Group process.
  • Grievance Handling
