The Eclipse S-CORE project team has announced the release of Eclipse S-CORE 0.6.0, the third milestone version of its open source automotive middleware platform developed by the Eclipse Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) Working Group. The new release represents a significant step forward in building an open, safety-focused foundation for software-defined vehicles.

Full dual-language support for C++ and Rust

Version 0.6.0 introduces full dual-language support for C++ and Rust, including integration of the Ferrocene safety-critical Rust toolchain. This enhancement strengthens S-CORE’s commitment to modern, memory-safe development while maintaining compatibility with established automotive software practices.

New modules

The release also adds new modules, including Baselibs Rust and Lifecycle & Health Management, further expanding the platform’s core capabilities. In addition, Rust backends are now available for persistency, communication, and logging, reinforcing the project’s growing Rust ecosystem.

Stronger alignment with safety standards

Safety and compliance remain central to S-CORE’s development. The latest milestone demonstrates stronger alignment with key automotive standards, including ISO 26262 (functional safety), ISO 21434 (cybersecurity), and ASPICE 4.0, supporting industry requirements for safety-critical systems.

Platform integrations

Platform integrations have also been expanded, with enhanced support for QNX, Red Hat AutoSD, and Elektrobit corbos Linux for Safety Applications, broadening S-CORE’s compatibility across leading automotive operating environments.

With growing industry engagement and technical maturity, Eclipse S-CORE continues to gain momentum as an open, safety-first middleware platform for next-generation vehicles.
